Reflections on a year of Growth

2020 has been a whirlwind of a year. If you would have asked me how I thought the year would go in January, I would have said just like any other year. Nothing special. I never would have guessed I’d have 8 weeks off a quarter of the way through. During that time off, I learned a lot of things about myself. The main one being that life is not ALL about work. Work is good. Work is essential. BUT, when you let your job seep into your every moment, it becomes over powering.
Coming back to work after 8 weeks was so challenging for me personally. Not only was I having to get back into a normal routine, I had to reschedule EVERYONE that we had to cancel during quarantine. It was a little over 400 clients, not to mention having to field calls from new clients or out of state clients whose states hadn’t lifted restrictions yet. Angel was my lifesaver during all of that because there is no way on earth I could have done it alone. It took 6 whole weeks to to get everyone rescheduled and to contact my 5 page wait list of new clients.
As hard as all of that was, the only thing I can say about quarantine is that we are BLESSED. Beyond blessed. My team worked harder than ever to get people in, help each other out, and all around kick freaking butt. Blessed that we haven’t gotten sick, blessed that our clients were SO good about rescheduling if they weren’t feeling well. Blessed that everyone was understanding of our new procedures with wearing masks and sanitizing, and that I was working slower than normal to try and accommodate everyone. I can’t ask for a better clientele.
Although 2020 “sucked”, it was still one of the best years of my life. The growth, patience, and strength I received from this year is astronomical. I can’t wait to see what 2021 holds for me and my team.
Here’s to YOUR great hair day!
