Have you ever thought about donating your hair? If not, have you ever thought about how hard it can be navigating your way through childhood without hair?
Each year in the U.S. there are an estimated 15,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. Globally there are more than 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year.
“Children With Hair Loss” is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that provides human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults facing medically-related hair loss. When a child's hair is lost due to Cancer treatments, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, Burns, etc., the painful effects are far deeper than just cosmetic. Each year, the number of children requesting hair increases and they shouldn’t have to be wearing synthetic adult sized wigs. Their mission statement is "Cover Young Heads to Heal Young Hearts”. Currently, they provide a customized human hair replacement and care kit to over 600 children a year! Each child receives a replacement wig FREE OF CHARGE yearly until the age of 21.
As you can imagine this organization is a perfect fit for us which is why we partnered with them and we mail hair donations just as often as we get them. Of course “Children With Hair Loss” accepts monetary donations as well but if you have 8” or more that you want to cut off please consider making a hair donation. Non-chemically treated hair is preferred but any hair in good condition (including grey hair) will be accepted.
